Beadnell, deserted medieval village


Description:  Beadnell was a member of the Royal Demesne of Bamburgh. 1296: 18 taxpayers. 1580: eight tenants. Hearth Tax 1665: six householders paid, 26 were too poor. 1695: eight freehold tenants, 29 cottagers. 1707: the village comprised two rows of houses and a green. The village grew in the 18th century. No medieval remains. (1)
