Discusses the archaeological strategy adopted prior to the development of a new runway, highlighting the benefit of undertaking field evaluation even if no archaeological remains are expected. In the case in question, important prehistoric and later remains were discovered and excavated, despite the fact that no significant sites had been identified in the initial desk-based study. |
