Abstract: Technical examination of the gorget revealed the likely use of concealed rivets to fasten the terminals to the crescent. The Sintra collar terminals were fusion welded with some additional melted gold. There is discussion about the extent to which Irish goldsmiths borrowed ideas and technology from outside sources such as N Europe and a checklist of the eight Irish gorgets is provided.
