Abstract: |
[TG 4704]. 'Cauldron fragments' from a 4th century context in the 1960 excavation are reidentified as pieces of a Roman helmet in iron and bronze. Its construction is similar to that of the Conçesti and Deurne helmets, possibly foreshadowing the later Spangenhelm; it may also be the distinctive headgear of the Stablesian cavalry. |
