Abstract: |
A steady programme of fieldwalking over some years yielded a large harvest of coins, brooches, and other metalwork which allowed the identification of a Roman fort site together with settlement areas of Iron Age and Roman date. Only the material up to AD 100 is reported here; attention is drawn to the very low cost of research which has allowed the drawing up of hypotheses on historical, economic, social and cultural aspects of the site. |
