Abstract: Brief report on excavation of a sub-circular cairn at Balblair Quarry near Beauly, including the discovery of decoration on three of the internal faces of the sandstone slabs forming the central cist. In one case this included a deeply scored but asymmetrical linear decoration which appears to have no direct parallels in other recorded megalithic art in the UK and Ireland. The sandstone slabs may have been reused, originally having been part of an earlier chambered cairn nearby.
