Abstract: |
Archaeological investigations over an area of about half a hectare within the playing fields of Fairfield Park Lower School, Stotfold, Bedfordshire, revealed remains dating from the late Bronze Age through the Iron Age and into the late Roman period. These included the possible remains of two roundhouses and almost one hundred pits of the early to middle Iron Age, a high-status Roman cremation burial of the 1st or 2nd century AD, and a series of slightly later enclosure and boundary ditches.
