Abstract: Report of excavations between 1980 and 1984 of the first-century Roman legionary fortress and settlement at Mancetter village, Warwickshire, following on previous excavations and fieldwork from 1968 to 1979. Features excavated included the defensive system on the western side of the fortress, where a number of ditches, including punic ditches, were identified; several areas of pits, foundation trenches and post holes in the central area of the fortress, indicating various structures including a granary; rubbish pits, in which pottery (including samian), coins and other finds were located; and a kiln-like feature of unknown function.
