Abstract: A watching brief was carried out during the installation of new service trenches and the dredging of the surrounding moat at Baddesley Clinton manor house; a measured survey of earthworks to the north of the present forecourt was also undertaken. Observations indicate that there were substantial stone-built structures beyond the present forecourt before 1699, possibly dating to the fourteenth or fifteenth century. There is also evidence of substantial landscaping around the house in the late post-medieval period. A brick buttress on the north side of the courtyard does not appear to be associated with the present stone wall, indicating that the building sequence there may have been more complex than previously thought. A fine, intact example of a wooden sluice exposed near the south-eastern corner of the moat.
