Abstract: Excavation revealed the remains of a stone and brick cellar that clearly pre-dated the modern farmhouse, along with several other features and some highly truncated wall footings. Rectification of historic mapping with modern survey and the excavated remains identified the location of the former hall. Although dating evidence was scanty, the presence of stone cellar walls, probably also supporting a stone chimney stack, is taken to suggest an early seventeenth century date in accordance with the documentary evidence. There was also evidence to suggest that, until the later nineteenth century, the house had comprised a single range with a cross wing and additional room added sometime after 1857.
