Abstract: Traces of a row of short-lived rectilinear tofts, established some time in the eleventh to thirteenth centuries and aligned along the frontage of the London-Colchester road. There are specialist reports on `The pottery' by Helen Walker (108--9) and `Miscellaneous finds' by Hilary Major (109).
