Abstract: Brief overview of instances of counter-spells, particularly in the form of witch-charm jars containing various items often including iron objects, and frequently secreted in chimneys and hearths. Notes two jars deposited in the seventeenth century in 27 and 29 High Street, Charing, and re-discovered in 1993.
