Abstract: Simon Crutchley begins with a note on the discovery and early investigation of the site (34). Thereafter the subsequent excavation of a Roman fort and adjacent parade ground at the Oxfordshire site is chronicled. It is thought that Alchester may have served as a garrison depot from perhaps the AD40s onwards.
