Abstract: |
A wide alignment of timber uprights and planks runs from Fengate across to the island of Flag Fen and probably on towards Northey 'island'. It was preceded by Beaker pits (non-domestic), and then by a flooded phase. The timber alignment appears to mark a boundary, on one side of which large quantities of MBA to Iron Age metalwork and other finds were deposited; many were of high status types, eg weapons, and there were also numerous tin items. Dendrochronology should help show the relation between the timber alignment and the Flag Fen settlement. |
