Abstract: The early fort (Frontinus's work rather than Agricola's?) had a timber granary later buttressed in stone. A deep midden pit contained an important collection of military leather. Late Flavian redefences and the impressive bath house and vicus were explored. The late Roman fort on a different alignment (seen by Stukeley) remains obscure, but there is religious sculpture and industrial activity including the mass production of spoons.
