Abstract: Originally dug in 1903-7, when its function was not recognized, the site came to notice again as a clear cropmark in 1976. Excavations have revealed several phases; the temple has a large circular cella with attached porch and was built of nonlocal materials and decorated with painted wall plaster. It is set within a rectangular temenos with ambulatory and elaborate entrance. Beneath the stone temple was a timber structure, of mid-1st century BC and presumably also a temple. The site is rich in votives and other finds which, together with its nearness to Fishbourne, suggest strong political connections.
