Abstract: DoE [Department of the Environment] Circular 8/87, published in March 1987, introduced new arrangements for dealing with certain categories of listed building consent application. Local Planning Authorities for the first time are now permitted, without reference to the Secretary of State, to grant applications involving the partial demolition of Grade II buildings, but only where the demolition is as defined in Paragraph 86 of the Circular. This short article presents a chart intended to assist those who need to apply Paragraph 86. LD
