Abstract: |
describes the results of a geochemical survey undertaken to map the distribution of copper and associated elements on a headland containing copper mines dating back to the Bronze Age. The survey involved the analysis of topsoil samples at 102 sites, with sixty interpolated sites in areas of particular interest. Areas of known mineralization and mining were defined and a previously under-rated area highlighted. Heavy contamination was revealed at two spring sites, suspected of being ore-processing ``washeries'', and a small anomaly identified a possible smelting site |
