Abstract: The circular plan of the village is believed to date from early 10th century. Excavations in the centre revealed only enclosure ditches and trackways, the earliest dating to 7th/10th century. The final phase, 13th/14th century, coincided with the construction of a mill leat. A Roman feature was examined and a small collection of RB and prehistoric finds made. The status and character of the Saxon settlement remain uncertain. Au(adp)
