Abstract: |
An assessment of the problems of reconstructing loricae hamatae, squamatae and segmentatae from surviving fragments and ancient representations. Important new light is shed on the lorica segmentata by the reconstruction of one incomplete and two complete cuirasses found at Corbridge in 1964; two variants are represented by this find, which account for all the fittings of such cuirasses found elsewhere. Work on the Corbridge find has enabled a new reconstruction to be made of a lorica segmentata from the fort at Newstead. M G S |
