Abstract: Report on an archaeological watching brief and excavation carried out at Tallington during 1997 in advance of pipe laying, during which part of a sixth-century Anglo-Saxon inhumation cemetery and medieval building remains were discovered. The report describes seven complete, or nearly complete, graves, one truncated by a medieval pit, and a distinct group of bones and artefacts representing a ploughed-out grave. Two further graves were identified and the remains of two more individuals were recovered from the backfill of a series of medieval pits.
