Abstract: Detailed description of two buildings which represent two rare structural types within the county. The first, Pear Tree Farmhouse, Yoxall, has a T-shaped plan of which the single-storey principal range, before the chimney stacks and upper floors were inserted, contained a quasi-aisled hall, the two-storey cross wing serving as its chamber block. The second, Wales End Farmhouse, Barton-under-Needwood, is also T-shaped in plan, and comprises a hall range with a cross wing at the upper end. It is framed with close studding and arched braces. The hall studding is divided into two tiers by a middle rail, which is decorated with chamfers, roll and ogee mouldings.
