Abstract: Outlines the results of excavations undertaken in 1997, which revealed a sequence of stone and brick buildings beginning in the late medieval or early Tudor period. Eighteenth-century tanning was evinced by horncore-lined pit. The finds reports comprise `The toilet set' [of copper, probably pre-1600] by Nina Crummy (131--2), `A wooden gaming-piece' [from post-med context] by Ian Riddler (133--4), `The tobacco pipes' (134) and `The pottery' (134--5) both by Chris Jarrett.
