Abstract: An account of the fords, ferries, floats and bridges on the river Clyde near Lanark. Documentary evidence is considered and a detailed discussion of the part these constructions played in the history of the period is presented. The appendix provides details of the disbursements involved in building the Bridge of Clydsholm (1694).
