Abstract: The chain was found by workmen at Traprain Law in East Lothian. A further ten examples are known from Scotland and are mainly concentrated in the south. Where the chains are decorated the symbols can be paralleled with those on sculptured stone monuments which are mainly confined to the east, north of the Forth.
