Abstract: A fragment of decorated brass was found on the site of the fort. A border of heart-shaped motifs and a Triton design executed by punching and incision have been enhanced by partial tinning of the surface. The piece has parallels amongst fine military metalwork and may be part of a shield-centre used as parade equipment in the late 1st century AD. AR See also abstract 74/2743.
