Abstract: | The article examines the small `Lapis Echodi' chi-rho cross-slab from Iona in relation to the non-calligraphic mixed-alphabet group identified by V E Nash Williams among inscriptions of AD 400--600. Comparisons are made between epigraphic and scribal letterforms, with analytical diagrams based on surviving manuscript pen-forms. | ||
