Abstract: Three acres due for housing development have been excavated, and boundary ditches, Grubenhauser, an aisled hall, other buildings and pottery kilns are briefly described and figured. Apart from the Grubenhauser, which may belong to the fringes of the Red Castle settlement, this area of the town was occupied between 9th and 11th-early 12th cents, after which it was abandoned for one across the river; by 13th cent the site was being farmed.
