The report outlines the aims and objectives of the fieldwork, the planning background and the scope of the works, and the geological and topographical background; gives a brief documentary history of the site of The Rose, along with a summary of cartographic evidence; and the archaeological background, with particular reference to the excavations undertaken at the site in 1988--89. | ||||
