Abstract: Article describing the history, route, structures and surviving features of an early-nineteenth-century horse-drawn tramway operating between Croydon and Merstham; tram plates believed to be from the tramway have been placed on display in `the caves', a group of former silver-sand mines in Reigate, the originally intended terminus of the tramway.
