Abstract: The article reports on the radiocarbon dating of two shofarot (Jewish ritual musical instruments), one found in 1850 during dredging of the River Thames at Vauxhall and the other recovered from Leadenhall Street, City of London, in 1855. Both were shown to have a 95.4% probability of being post-medieval in date, contradicting earlier claims that they pre-dated the expulsion of the Jewish community from England in AD 1290.
