Abstract: | Construction of a new retaining wall at the east end of the quayside necessitated the exposure and recording of a stretch of town wall, to ensure that engineering work did not damage the medieval structure. The development involved the destruction of archaeological deposits adjacent to the south face of the wall. There are details of pottery, ceramic building material, and metalwork including two medieval `Coins' by R Brickstock (231--2), iron, and copper alloy objects. A report on the `Geological analysis of gravel from below the wall foundation' by G A L Johnson (233), and brief conclusions end the report. | ||
