Abstract: A range of fifteenth century vaults at the street frontage and a twelfth century vault at the rear of Howard Street were investigated by survey and small-scale excavation. A summary of earlier work is provided by David Bullock in `The 1976 excavation' (347), and the survey results are supplemented by Paul Rutledge's `Documentary background' (347--8).
