Abstract:		 In the reports below attention is drawn to a number of cases where historic buildings have been demolished or drastically altered. In some cases information has come too late even to allow of photographs being taken. The Society in no way wishes to stand in the way of intelligent development, but frequently buildings are damaged through a lack of understanding as to their value and ignorance of suitable sources of help and advice. Under the Act of 1947 lists of buildings worthy of preservation for the Nation are now available, and it is hoped that members will take the opportunity of becoming acquainted with the listed buildings in their area so that the Society may be notified as soon as critical issues arise. In most cases a kindly and informed approach can save the day.
