Abstract: A preliminary report on the findings of the Yeavering Environs Project, revisiting the Anglo-Saxon settlement remains at Yeavering, famous as a royal site mentioned in Bede's Ecclesiastical History and originally subject to excavation between 1953 and 1962 by Brian Hope-Taylor. This report focuses on the project's re-excavation of Hope-Taylor's Building C1, a sunken-featured building, and uses the new findings to offer a revised interpretation of the building's construction.
