Abstract: The volume in honour of the late Raymond Vaufrey includes the following papers. I W Cornwall (pp 129-32) on "Milankovitch and after: some reflections on Pleistocene dating" (a plea not to abandon the radiation curve as a dating instrument while it still serves as a guide in its own right and as a check to newer results). Hallam J Movius Jr contributes a note (311-8) on the history of the discovery and recognition of the function of burins as tools, emphasising the role of Leguay in the earliest studies. J Waechter's article (491-7) is on the evidence of the Levallois technique in the British Acheulian and the question of Acheulio-Levallois.
