Abstract: |
Highlights are presented of the intensive survey of the 600ha of land taken in for airport expansion. There was an LBA enclosure and ditched trackway, an Iron Age village with ?shrine and 51 potin coins, and a rich box-burial of 2nd century with bronze vessels, samian, glass, etc. Other finds included a less rich female burial and a possible Roman settlement, with a single pit as the only Saxon evidence. The med moated sites were somewhat ambiguous but three other med sites turned up in fieldwalking. |
