Abstract: The development area was stripped of topsoil and subsoil and excavated in a number of stages to minimise disruption to the construction programme whilst ensuring that the objectives of the archaeological programme were fulfilled. Three phases of archaeological activity were identified at the site, these being Beaker, Romano-British and medieval. The only Beaker period feature was pit 1026 which was previously identified during the course of an evaluation in 2000. A flint flake of late Neolithic to early Bronze Age was recovered from the fill of ditch 1005, and may have indicated that it was broadly contemporary with pit 1026. The Romano-British features comprised an L-shaped ditch indicative of the north-western corner of a field or enclosure. Medieval activity was restricted to two probable furrows. Two features remained undated; a stone-lined pit that may have been a small pond or cattle watering hole and a sheep burial that had previously been interpreted as a human inhumation during the preceding evaluation.
