Abstract: A watching brief during groundworks for the construction of a dwelling identified a probable ground make-up deposit comprising of a layer of sandy clay containing a few fragments of tile, bone, charcoal, oyster shell and a little wood. The deposit was thought to be of medieval date or later but no material was recovered which allowed a precise date for the deposits to be established. A band of dark grey material, interpreted as a turf-line, overlay this deposit and was in turn sealed by a concrete pad and spread of clay associated with the construction of the exisiting house.[Au(adp)]
