Abstract: Field walking was undertaken across two fields in response to a planning condition for residential development. The north-western field produced 12 fire cracked flints, 37 flakes & worked flints, 4 medieval pottery sherds and 6 post-medieval pottery sherds. The south-eastern field produced 12 fire cracked flints, 149 worked flakes and worked flints, 13 medieval pottery sherds and 9 post-medieval pottery sherds. Only the worked flint distribution appeared to warrant further comment. In the absence of greater contextual evidence, it was difficult to assign precise ages to any of the recovered material, although a palimpsest ranging from the Neolithic through to the Bronze Age seemed fairly uncontroversial.
