Abstract: An archaeological evaluation was undertaken on land to the north of Princes Road, Chelmsford prior to a residential housing development. A medieval phase of activity was represented by ditches and a possible pit, these contained pottery of the 10th-14th centuries. Features associated with the Tudor and Georgian phases of Moulsham Hall were also found. These comprised the remains of walls, robbed out foundations, ditches and demolition debris. Parchmarks plotted from an aerial photograph were identified as being the remains of buildings, walls, ditches and field boundaries which related to the medieval, Tudor and Georgian phases of Moulsham Hall.
