The article describes a manuscript book, formerly belonging to Dr Richard Hensleigh Walter of Stoke sub Hamdon (1862--1924), a local collector of antiquities. The book contains reminiscences, poetry, notes (some originating with his father and grandfather, also collectors, dating back to 1797), newspaper cuttings, letters and photographs, several of which are of archaeological interest.
Rethinking the coins from the Roman villa at Ilchester Mead
James Gerrard
53 - 55
The author looks at the catalogue of 177 coins listed in the excavation report of the Roman villa at Ilchester Mead, arguing that the conclusions reached contribute to the sum of knowledge about Roman Ilchester and Britain and that the site and its excavation report have been unjustly overlooked.
