Abstract:		 Early activity on the site was represented by a quantity of Meso flints and an early Neo hearth and gully. Three Iron Age settlements were, successively, an open one with at least fifteen pre-Belgic houses; an enclosed settlement, also pre-Belgic, of two huts within a palisade plus horseshoe-shaped enclosures; and a single hut with pre-Belgic and early Belgic pottery. These three settlements spanned the mid 3rd to late 1st centuries BC Romano-British occupation was attested by field boundaries, a well with preserved organic material, and other occupation material. In 12th century a single croft was established; and finally late and post-medieval extraction of chalk and gravel took place and field boundaries were made. Specialist reports treat soil conditions and other environmental remains, pottery, coins, metalwork, flints, wood and leather etc, and there is detailed discussion of house reconstructions.
