Abstract
Excavations at the Ty Mawr hut-circles, Anglesey: Part III, the finds
Christopher Smith
12 - 80
Continued from 86/244. Covers the stone artefacts (small Mesolithic assemblage, hammerstones, etc), experimental work on heat-transfer in 'pot-boilers' (suggesting dolerite was deliberately imported for its resistance to repeated cycles of heating and cooling); marine shells, exploitation patterns, plant macrofossils, and soils. To be continued.
Excavation of a kerb circle and ring cairn on Cefn Caer Euni, Merioneth
Frances M Lynch
81 - 120
Domestic occupation (coarse rusticated wares) was followed by a kerb circle with central rectangular wooden structure and portal, and a small ring cairn also with rectangular structure. These 'Variant Circles' yielded no finds and no bones, despite the burial-like arrangements. Site I had been carefully prepared before construction began. Charcoals, soils, 14C dates.
Woodbarn, Wiston: a Pembrokeshire rath
Blaise E Vyner
121 - 133
Limited exploration revealed a complex sequence from early prehistoric flintwork through two phases of enclosure ditch, an agricultural horizon, a round house, and three phases of bank. Finds were few, and larger scale excavation would be needed.
The Roman fort at Caer Gai, Meirionnydd: a section through the defences
Richard B White
134 - 146
Salvage excavations showed three phases from late 1st century to a massive rampart of possibly post-Roman date. Some pottery, slags.
Careg y Bwci: a Roman watch-tower?
Jeffrey L Davies
147 - 153
The site, between Pumsaint and Llanio, was dug in the 1870s and seems of interest now.
A catalogue of Welsh ecclesiastical seals as known down to AD 1600. Part III capitular seals
David H Williams
154 - 162
The church bells of Montgomeryshire, Powys catalogue
J C Eisel
163 - 196
A lead mirror-frame of the Roman period from Caerwent
Glenys Lloyd-Morgan
201 - 203
The Oxwich Brooch
J M Lewis
203 - 204
The brooch, recovered from rubble at Oxwich Castle, has six stones in a gold setting, of which the cameos are now seen as genuinely medieval work.
