Mostly historical account of the `White Friars'. Something of the site is known from archaeological work in the 1930s and 1960s.

Examines the nature of the find-sites of similar sealings (in France, Romania, and Bulgaria).

Two parallel linear ditches, running for more than 100m, associated with smaller ditches and gullies are interpreted as a droveway with attached settlement. It is dated by associated pottery and radiocarbon to the LBA. The site provides the first good evidence for large-scale land division of this period in west Kent. It is suggested that the settlement was an arable counterpart to specialised transhumant pastoralism on higher and lower ground.
