Abstract
Medieval pottery studies: the future
Stephen A Moorhouse
1 - 9
Attempts are being made to formalize and standardize methods of cataloguing, quantifying, and analysing medieval pottery. Types must be defined in much greater detail than hitherto; distributions need very careful analysis; other disciplines such as study of documents and physical sciences must be pursued in greater depth; only the publication of numerous large stratified groups can assist dating (which is anyway a distant goal); 'parallel chasing' should cease and attention be paid to training new researchers.
