Abstract:
SE 578032. Excavation of part of a kiln (Musty type ?2A) outside the medieval town walls, and of several waster pits. Three types of Hallgate ware (late 12th to end 13th/early 14th centuries) are defined and illustrated. The fabrics are discussed in the context of the local potting tradition, and possible reasons for cessation are discussed.
