Abstract: |
The material studied comes from Roman and medieval deposits in Exeter, and is presented in terms of species exploited (including fish remains analysed by M Wilkinson). Exeter's role in animal husbandry is discussed under the headings of meat production, dairying, wool production, marketing of hides and furs, working animals, tools and ornaments, butchery and meat marketing, the urban population and animal husbandry. Future research priorities are outlined. |
