Abstract: |
A total of six trenches of varying length were cut within the proposed development area. One trench was placed across the location of a linear earthwork visible on the 1st edition Ordnance Survey 1863 which may have been related to the nearby Roman marching camp at Lintrose. No significant archaeological features were exposed and no traces of the linear earthwork remained. The presence of modern material within the topsoil pointed to a clearing of the area in modern times, possibly for landscaping purposes, which appears to have removed any trace of the earthwork. |
