Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief carried out by CFA Archaeology Ltd during groundbreaking works at Duddingston Road West as part of the Braid Burn Flood Prevention Scheme. Work was undertaken in three areas. Area 1 showed virgin ground disturbed by recent activity associated with a modern golf course. Areas 2 and 3 revealed deposits of made ground. An in-situ concrete and brick pillar base with the shadow of a square iron pillar at its centre was discovered under made ground deposits within Area 2. No other features of archaeological significance were identified. |
